Hydraulic Brake Diagnostic System Check

  1. Install a scan tool. Does the scan tool power up? If so, go to next step. If not, then see appropriate BODY CONTROL MODULES article in ACCESSORIES & EQUIPMENT.
  2. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF. Attempt to establish communication with the following control modules:
    • Electronic brake control module (EBCM)
    • Body control module (BCM)
    Does the scan tool communicate with all control modules? If so, go to next step. If not, then see appropriate BODY CONTROL MODULES article in ACCESSORIES & EQUIPMENT.
  3. Select the display DTCs function on the scan tool for the following control modules:
    • Electronic brake control module (EBCM).
    • Body control module (BCM).
    Does the scan tool display any DTCs? If so, go to next step. If not, then see SYMPTOMS (HYDRAULIC BRAKE)  under TROUBLE SHOOTING.
  4. Does the scan tool display any DTCs which begin with a "U"? If yes, then see appropriate BODY CONTROL MODULES article in ACCESSORIES & EQUIPMENT. If not, go to next step.
  5. Does the scan tool display DTC B1000? If yes, then see appropriate BODY CONTROL MODULES article in ACCESSORIES & EQUIPMENT. If not, go to next step.
  6. Does the scan tool display DTC P0560, or P0620? If yes, then see appropriate ENGINE PERFORMANCE article. If scan tool displays DTC C0267, then see DTC C0267: BRAKE FLUID LEVEL SWITCH CIRCUIT FAULT  under SELF-DIAGNOSTICS. If other DTCs are displayed, then see appropriate ANTI-LOCK article.
