Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 GMC Savana Special, 2002 GMC Savana Camper Special, 2002 GMC Savana, and 2002 Chevrolet Chevy Express. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Install the right side rear door to the vehicle with an assistant.
    CAUTION: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
  2. Install the bolts in order to retain the right side rear door upper and the lower door hinges to the body.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the retaining bolts to 25 N.m (18 lb ft).

  3. Install the right side rear door rear door speaker, if equipped. Refer to SPEAKER REPLACEMENT - REAR DOOR .
  4. Install the right side rear door lock. Refer to LOCK REPLACEMENT - REAR DOOR .
  5. Install the right side rear door weather-strips (if needed). Refer to WEATHERSTRIP REPLACEMENT - FRONT AND REAR DOOR LOWER .
  6. Install the right side rear door hinged rear window or stationary window (if needed). Refer to HINGED REAR WINDOW REPLACEMENT or REAR WINDOW REPLACEMENT .
  7. Install the right side rear door wiring harness to the door. Refer to Wiring Harness Replacement - Door .
  8. Install the right side rear door outside handle. Refer to Handle and License Pocket - Rear Door Outside .
  9. Install the right side rear door inside handle. Refer to Handle Replacement - Rear Door Inside .
  10. Install the right side rear door extension. Refer to Extension Panel Replacement - Rear Door .
  11. Install the right side rear door trim panel. Refer to TRIM PANEL REPLACEMENT - SIDE REAR DOOR .
