Removal Procedure

  1. Set the parking brake.
  2. Block the wheels.
  3. Remove the instrument panel cluster trim plate filler from the instrument panel cluster trim plate.
  4. Pull on the instrument panel cluster trim plate in order to disengage the retainers.
  5. Remove the instrument panel cluster trim plate from the instrument panel.

    Pull in the following sequence in order to disengage the retainers.

    1. Pull at the left corner.
    2. Pull at the right corner.
    3. Pull at the top.
  6. Disconnect the electrical connectors from the switches in the instrument panel cluster trim plate.
  7. Move the shift lever to the first gear position.
  8. Rotate the instrument panel cluster trim plate counterclockwise.

    Lift the trim plate over the steering column.

  9. Disconnect the headlamp switch and the rear heater control switch, if equipped, from the instrument panel cluster trim plate by releasing the outboard tabs.
  10. Remove the instrument panel cluster trim plate from the vehicle.
  11. Inspect the instrument panel cluster trim plate for broken or missing retainers.

    Replace the retainer as necessary.
