Installation Procedure

  1. Install the instrument panel carrier to the vehicle.
  2. Install the wiring harness retainers to the instrument panel carrier.

  3. Install the air ducts to the instrument panel carrier.
    CAUTION: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
  4. Install the bolts that retain the air ducts to the instrument panel carrier.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the bolts to 2 N.m (18 in lbs).

  5. Connect the heater and A/C vacuum harness connector at the lower right of the cowl area.
  6. Carefully rotate the instrument panel carrier in and upward in order to install additional components.

  7. Install the bolts that retain the instrument panel carrier to the vehicle.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the bolts to 50 N.m (37 ft lbs).

  8. Install the instrument cluster wiring harness to the instrument panel carrier.
  9. Install the nuts that retain the steering column to the instrument panel carrier. Refer to STEERING COLUMN REPLACEMENT .
  10. Install the steering column wiring harness to the instrument panel carrier.
  11. Install the push-in fasteners that retain the radio, the heater, and the A/C wiring harnesses to the instrument panel carrier.

  13. Install the heater and the A/C control. Refer to HVAC CONTROL ASSEMBLY .
  14. Install the instrument panel compartments, if equipped. Refer to Compartment Replacement - Instrument Panel (I/P) .
  15. Install the mounting bracket and radio, if equipped. Refer to RADIO REPLACEMENT .
  16. Install the engine cover. Refer to ENGINE COVER REPLACEMENT .
  17. Install the instrument panel upper trim pad. Refer to Trim Pad Replacement - Instrument Panel (I/P) Upper .
  18. Install the passenger side SIR Module. Refer to REMOVAL & INSTALLATION (PASSENGER-SIDE) .
  19. Install the instrument panel passenger knee bolster inner and outer brackets. Refer to Bracket Replacement - Knee Bolster .
  20. Install the instrument panel driver knee bolster deflector assembly and the driver knee bolster inner and outer brackets. Refer to Knee Bolster Replacement - Left .
  21. Install the right hinge pillar trim panel. Refer to TRIM REPLACEMENT - HINGE PILLAR .
  22. Install the left hinge pillar trim panel. Refer to TRIM REPLACEMENT - HINGE PILLAR .
  23. Install the instrument panel lower extension upper trim panel. Refer to Instrument Panel (I/P) Extension Trim Plate Replacement .
  24. Install the instrument cluster assembly. Refer to Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) Replacement .
  25. Enable the SIR system. Refer to ACTIVATING SYSTEM .
  26. Connect the battery negative cable(s). Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnect/Connect Procedure .
