Park Brake Hardware: Installation

  1. Connect the park brake lever to the park brake cable. Connect the park brake lever to the brake shoe and install the retaining clip.
  2. Position the hook end of the Brake Shoe Spanner and Spring Remover under the universal spring and lightly pull the universal spring end out while installing the brake shoe. Ensure that the universal spring properly engages the brake shoe web hole.
  3. Adjust the drum brake system. See DRUM PARK BRAKE ADJUSTMENT  under PARK BRAKE in ADJUSTMENTS & INSPECTIONS.
  4. Install the brake drum. See BRAKE DRUM  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
  5. Install the tire and wheel assembly. Lower the vehicle.
