Park Brake Cable (Front): Installation

  1. Install the front cable into the vehicle. Connect the cable to the parking brake lever.
  2. Install the cable button (1) in the lever clevis. See Figure . Install the cable button clip to the lever clevis.
  3. Raise support the vehicle.
  4. Tighten the nut on the equalizer in order to remove the slack in the cable. Lower the vehicle.
  5. Install the parking brake cable through the park brake cable guides. Position the carpeting properly.
  6. Install the lower center pillar trim panel on the left side. Install the left side carpet retainers. Install the left side instrument panel insulator.
  7. Adjust the parking brake. See DISC PARK BRAKE ADJUSTMENT  or DRUM PARK BRAKE ADJUSTMENT  under PARK BRAKE in ADJUSTMENTS & INSPECTIONS.
