Ride Diagnosis

  1. Did you review the General Description and perform the necessary inspections? If yes, go to step  2. If no, go to SYMPTOMS - SUSPENSION GENERAL DIAGNOSIS .
  2. Verify that the ride is too soft or too hard. Does the vehicle ride normally? If yes, system is OK. If no, go to step  3.
  3. Inspect the tires for the proper inflation pressure. Is the tire inflation pressure correct? If yes, go to step  5. If no, go to step  4.
  4. Inflate the tires to the correct pressure. Did you complete the repair? If yes, go to step  5.
  5. Inspect the vehicle trim height. Refer to TRIM HEIGHT INSPECTION PROCEDURE . Repair as necessary. Did you complete the inspection/repair? If yes, go to step  6.
  6. Inspect the following suspension components for wear or damage:
    • Springs
    • Struts
    • Shock Absorbers
    Refer to STRUTS OR SHOCK ABSORBERS ON-VEHICLE TESTING . Are any of the components the worn or damaged? If yes, go to step  7. If no, go to step  8.
  7. Replace all of the worn or damaged components. Did you complete the repair? If yes, go to step  8.
  8. Inspect the electronic suspension control system. Refer to DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK - ELECTRONIC SUSPENSION CONTROL in ELECTRONIC SUSPENSION CONTROL (ESC) article. Repair as necessary. Did you complete the inspection/repair? If yes, go to step  9.
  9. Drive the vehicle in order to verify the repair. Did you correct the condition? If yes, system is OK. If no, go to step  3.
