Starter Motor: Installation

- Connect the starter motor field leads to the starter motor as follows:
- Loosely install the starter enable relay lead to the starter solenoid terminal. See Figure . Align the terminal retaining tab to the starter solenoid.
- Loosely install generator output (BAT) lead and the battery positive cable to the solenoid terminal. Align the battery positive cable terminal retaining tab to the starter solenoid.
- Tighten the starter enable relay lead nut to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
- Tighten the battery positive cable nut to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
- Install the two starter motor mounting bolts and the shims (if necessary) through the starter to the engine. Tighten the bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
- Lower the vehicle.
- Connect the battery negative cable.
