Brake Pedal Assembly: Removal

  1. Remove the Instrument Panel (I/P) carrier assembly, to gain access to the brake pedal assembly to cowl mounting bolts. See appropriate GAUGES & INSTRUMENT PANELS article in ACCESSORIES & EQUIPMENT.
  2. Disconnect the electrical connectors from the stop lamp/ABS/shift lock switch. Remove the stop lamp/ABS/shift lock switch from the brake pedal assembly. Remove the TCC/cruise control release switch from the brake pedal assembly.
  3. Remove the vacuum brake booster pushrod retainer. Remove the pushrod foam spacer. Remove the vacuum brake booster pushrod from the brake pedal. Remove the accelerator control cable. Remove the brake pedal assembly to cowl mounting nuts. Remove the brake pedal assembly to booster stud mounting nuts. Remove the brake pedal bracket and pedal assembly. See Figure .
