Brake Hoses: Installation

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Oldsmobile Aurora. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE: Install NEW copper brake hose gaskets.
  1. Remove the rubber plug from the brake hose to caliper bolt hole of the brake caliper. Assemble the brake hose, the NEW copper brake hose gaskets, and the brake hose bolt to the brake hose. Install the brake hose to caliper bolt to the brake caliper and tighten to specifications. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
  2. NOTE: Make sure the brake hose is not twisted or kinked after installation. Damage to the hose could result.
  3. Install the brake hose to the brake hose bracket. See Fig 1 . Install the brake hose retainer to the brake hose. Remove the rubber cap or plug from the exposed brake pipe fitting end. Install the brake pipe fitting to the brake hose and tighten to specifications. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
  4. Install the hose bracket and bolt to the strut assembly and tighten to specifications. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  . Bleed the hydraulic brake system. See BLEEDING BRAKE SYSTEM  . Install the tire and wheel assembly. Lower the vehicle.

NOTE: Install NEW copper brake hose gaskets.
  1. Remove the rubber plug from the brake hose to caliper bolt hole of the brake caliper. Assemble the brake hose, the NEW copper brake hose gaskets and the brake hose bolt to the brake hose.
  2. Install the brake hose to caliper bolt to the brake caliper and tighten to specifications. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  . Install the brake hose to the brake hose bracket. Install the brake hose retainer to the brake hose. Remove the rubber cap or plug from the exposed brake pipe fitting end. Install the brake pipe fitting to the brake hose and tighten to specifications. SeeTORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  . See Fig 1 .
  3. Bleed the hydraulic brake system. See BLEEDING BRAKE SYSTEM  . Install the tire and wheel assembly. Lower the vehicle.
