Outer Ring Assembly Note

  1. Fill the outer ring and boot (transaxle side) with the specified grease. Use the specified grease supplied in the boot kit. See OUTER RING GREASE STANDARD AMOUNT  table.

    2.0L 3.29-3.63 (0.097-0.107)
    2.3L 4.06-4.55 (0.120-0.135)
    Manual Transaxle
    2.0L 5.05-5.54 (0.149-0.164)
    2.3L 5.41-5.89 (0.160-0.174)
    CAUTION: Do not touch grease with your hand. Apply it from the tube to prevent foreign matter from entering the boot.
  2. Assemble the outer ring.
  3. Set the axle shaft to the standard length. See AXLE SHAFT STANDARD LENGTH (TRIPOD TYPE)  table.

  4. Release any trapped air from the boots by carefully lifting up the small end of each boot with a cloth wrapped screwdriver. See Fig 1 .
    CAUTION: Be careful not to allow the grease to leak. Do not damage the boot.
  5. Verify that the axle shaft length is within the specification.
