Installation (1500 Series Utility Without 4-Wheel Steering)

  1. Install the backing plate to the axle housing flange.
  2. Install the backing plate nuts.
  3. Tighten the backing plate nuts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
  4. Install the park brake shoe. See PARK BRAKE SHOES .
  5. Install the axle shaft. See AXLE SHAFTS under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION in the appropriate DIFFERENTIALS article in DRIVELINE/AXLES.
  6. Adjust the park brake shoe. See PARK BRAKE ADJUSTMENT  under ADJUSTMENTS & INSPECTION.
  7. Install the rotor. See BRAKE ROTOR .
  8. Install the rear park brake cable end to the park brake actuator lever.
  9. Install the park brake cable to the mounting bracket until the locking tabs snap into place.
  10. Install the park brake cable to the equalizer bar by pulling down on the cable in front of the equalizer and installing the cable to the equalizer bar.
  11. Install the tire and wheel assembly. Tighten to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
  12. Lower vehicle.
  13. Adjust the park brake. See PARK BRAKE ADJUSTMENT  under ADJUSTMENTS & INSPECTION.
