Installation (Rear - 2500 & 3500 Series)
WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 12 other vehicles, including the 2003 GMC Yukon XL, 2003 GMC Yukon, 2003 GMC Sierra, 2003 GMC Cab & Chassis Sierra, and 2003 Chevrolet Tahoe. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- Install the anti-rattle clips to the brake caliper mounting bracket. See Figure.
- Install the brake pads to the brake caliper mounting bracket.
- Install the brake caliper to the brake caliper mounting bracket.
- Perform the following procedure before installing the brake caliper mounting bracket bolts and the brake caliper mounting bolts:
- Remove all traces of the original adhesive patch.
- Clean the threads of the bolt with brake parts cleaner or the equivalent and allow to dry.
- Apply Threadlocker (GM P/N 12345493) to the threads of the bolt.
- Install the brake caliper mounting bolts. Do not tighten.
- Install the brake caliper mounting bracket and brake caliper as an assembly. See Figure.
- Install the brake caliper mounting bracket bolts. Tighten the brake caliper mounting bracket bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
- Tighten the brake caliper mounting bolts. Tighten the brake caliper mounting bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
- Remove the rubber cap or plug from the exposed brake hose fitting end. See Figure.
- Install 2 NEW copper brake hose gaskets. Assemble the 2 NEW copper brake hose gaskets and the brake hose inlet fitting bolt to the brake hose.
- Connect the brake hose at the caliper by installing the brake hose to caliper bolt. Tighten the bolt to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
- Bleed the hydraulic brake system. See BLEEDING BRAKE SYSTEM .
- Install the tire and wheel assembly. Tighten to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
- Lower the vehicle.
- Fill the master cylinder reservoir to the proper level with clean brake fluid. See MASTER CYLINDER RESERVOIR FILLING under BLEEDING BRAKE SYSTEM.
