Removal (Rear - Utility With 4-Wheel Steering)

CAUTION: When lifting the vehicle do not allow the jack to touch the rear steering gear. If the jack touches the rear steering gear you may damage the gear or the rack and pinion boots. If the boots are damaged replace the rack and pinion boot.
  1. Raise and support the vehicle.
  2. Remove the tire and wheel assembly.
  3. Remove the nut and the bolt from the quarter shaft shield. See Fig 1.
  4. Remove the shield.
  5. Remove the 2 brake caliper mounting bolts. See Fig 2.
  6. Remove the brake caliper and support with heavy mechanic's wire or equivalent. DO NOT disconnect the hydraulic brake hose from the brake caliper.
  7. Remove the 2 brake caliper mounting bracket bolts. See Fig 3.
  8. Remove the disc brake pads from the brake caliper mounting bracket. See Figure.
  9. Remove the anti-rattle clips from the brake caliper mounting bracket.
