Park Brake Hardware: Removal

  1. Remove the drum. See PARK BRAKE DRUM  .
  2. Release the tension from the index lever by unhooking the spring from the index lever. See Fig 1 .
  3. Remove the transmission yoke bolt from the automatic transmission or nut from the manual transmission.
  4. Pull out on the transmission yoke to remove it from the transmission.
  5. Remove the support plate bolts and washers.
  6. Remove the backing plate, support plate, index lever and spring, and park brake shoe assembly from the vehicle.
  7. Separate the support plate and the park brake shoe assembly from the backing plate. See Fig 2 .
  8. Remove the park brake hardware.
