Park Brake Hardware: Removal

- Remove the drum. See PARK BRAKE DRUM .
- Release the tension from the index lever by unhooking the spring from the index lever. See Fig 1 .
- Remove the transmission yoke bolt from the automatic transmission or nut from the manual transmission.
- Pull out on the transmission yoke to remove it from the transmission.
- Remove the support plate bolts and washers.
- Remove the backing plate, support plate, index lever and spring, and park brake shoe assembly from the vehicle.
- Separate the support plate and the park brake shoe assembly from the backing plate. See Fig 2 .
- Remove the park brake hardware.
