Installation (Front)

  1. Lubricate the caliper and the anchor plate sliding surfaces with high temperature silicone brake lubricant.
    NOTE: Do not use never seize type products on the caliper V-ways and/or anchor plate guide way surfaces.
  2. Install the spring and the support key. See Figure .
  3. Drive the support key and spring in place using a brass punch and a hammer. See Figure .
  4. Install the caliper lock mounting bolt. The boss on the bolt must fit into the cutout in the support key. See Figure . Tighten the bolt to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
  5. Install the tire and the wheel assembly.
  6. Lower the vehicle.
  7. With the engine off, gradually apply the brake pedal approximately 2/3 of its travel distance.
  8. Slowly release the brake pedal.
  9. Wait 15 seconds, then repeat steps  6 and  7 until a firm brake pedal is obtained. This will properly seat the brake caliper pistons and brake pads.
  10. Fill the brake master cylinder to the proper level. See MASTER CYLINDER RESERVOIR FILLING  under BLEEDING BRAKE SYSTEM.
