Park Brake Adjustment

NOTE: Required Tool: Tension Scale (J-35999).
  1. Remove the clevis pin from the lever. Fig 1
  2. Set the parking brake by pushing the pedal down 18 degrees. See Fig 2 .
    • Insert a 0.125" (3 mm) pin into locating hole in the pedal assembly.
    • Push the pedal down until the pin contacts the parking brake outer flange.
  3. Install tension scale with a small length of cable or chain; and a tightening device, like a turnbuckle, on the frame. See Fig 3 .
  4. Install a small chain on the lever near the spring on the bottom of the lever. Tighten the tightening device until tension scale is at 50 Ft. Lbs. (222 N).
  5. Turn the clevis until the pin slides freely in the lever with all slack removed from the cable.
  6. Install the clevis pin and the cotter pin.
  7. Remove tension scale and all extensions used.
  8. Release the parking brake.
  9. Rotate the drum to assure there is no drag.
