Park Brake Pedal Assembly: Removal

  1. Remove the left side instrument panel insulator.
  2. Pull back the carpet for access.
  3. Raise and suitably support the vehicle.
  4. Loosen the park brake cable and the equalizer.
  5. Disconnect the front cable from the rear cable at the connector clip.
  6. Remove the front cable from the connector clip.
  7. Use the Park Brake Cable Release Tool (J-37043) in order to remove the front cable clip from the underbody bracket.
  8. Lower the vehicle.
  9. Disconnect the electrical connector at the park brake switch.
  10. Remove the three lever nuts from the body mounting studs.
  11. Remove the park brake lever with the park brake cable.
  12. Remove the cable button end from the lever clevis.
  13. Use the park brake cable release tool in order to remove the cable from the lever.
  14. Remove the switch, if being replaced.
