Master Cylinder: Installation

  1. Install the reservoir on the master cylinder, if needed.
  2. Fill the master cylinder reservoir with brake fluid.
  3. Bench bleed the master cylinder. See MASTER CYLINDER BENCH BLEEDING  under BLEEDING.
  4. Install the master cylinder to the vehicle.
  5. Install the master cylinder bolts and nuts. Tighten the fasteners to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
  6. Remove the rubber plugs from the brake lines.
  7. Connect the brake pipes to the master cylinder. Tighten the pipe nuts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
  8. Bleed the hydraulic brake system. See HYDRAULIC BRAKE SYSTEM - MANUAL  or HYDRAULIC BRAKE SYSTEM - PRESSURE  .
