WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 GMC Sonoma, 2003 GMC Jimmy, 2003 Chevrolet S10 Pickup, and 2003 Chevrolet Blazer. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Install the outboard lining, retainer spring on the inboard brake lining and inboard lining. See Fig 1.
  2. Install the caliper. See BRAKE CALIPER - FRONT SINGLE PISTON .
  3. Install the tire and wheel assembly.
  4. Lower the vehicle.
  5. With the engine OFF, gradually apply the brake pedal to approximately 2/3 of its travel distance.
  6. Slowly release the brake pedal.
  7. Wait 15 seconds, then repeat steps  5 and  6 until a firm brake pedal is obtained. This will properly seat the brake caliper pistons and brake pads.
  8. Fill the brake master cylinder to the proper level. See MASTER CYLINDER RESERVOIR FILLING  under BLEEDING.
  9. Burnish the new brake pads. See BURNISHING PADS AND ROTORS  under TROUBLE SHOOTING.
