Rear Brake Backing Plate: Removal

  1. Raise and support vehicle.
  2. Remove wheels.
  3. Remove brake drum. See REAR BRAKE DRUM . .
  4. Remove brake shoes. See REAR BRAKE SHOES .
  5. Remove wheel cylinder. See WHEEL CYLINDER .
  6. Remove axle shaft. See appropriate DRIVE AXLES article.
  7. Remove backing plate bolts. Remove backing plate.
