Adjusting Screw: Removal

  1. Raise vehicle.
  2. Remove wheels.
  3. Remove brake drum. See REAR BRAKE DRUM .
  4. Remove brake shoe return springs.
  5. Remove brake shoe guide.
  6. Remove hold down springs.
  7. Remove hold down pins.
  8. Remove actuator lever and actuator lever pivot.
  9. Remove actuator lever and lever pivot.
  10. Remove lever return spring.
  11. Remove parking brake strut and strut spring.
  12. Remove adjusting screw assembly and adjusting screw spring from brake shoes.
  13. Inspect all remaining parts for discoloration due to heat or stress. Replace parts as needed.
