Rod Bearings

CAUTION: Crankshaft is rolled fillet type. DO NOT machine crankshaft.
NOTE: Some engines may contain both standard and .003" (.08 mm) oversize connecting rod bearings, identified by O.S. stamped on bearing cap lower end.
  1. Mark rod caps in relation to rod for reassembly reference. Measure rod bearing journal out-of-round, taper and oil clearance. If measurement is not within specification, install NEW rod bearings. See CRANKSHAFT, MAIN & CONNECTING ROD BEARINGS  table under ENGINE SPECIFICATIONS.
  2. Undersize bearings may be used in combination with standard bearings to produce correct clearance. If clearance is not within specification after installing new bearings, replace crankshaft. DO NOT machine crankshaft. Ensure rod side play is within specification.
