Power Takeoff

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 8 other vehicles, including the 2003 GMC Sierra, 2003 GMC Cab & Chassis Sierra, 2003 Chevrolet Silverado, 2003 Chevrolet Cab & Chassis Silverado, and 2002 GMC Sierra. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

Transmission has a provision to mount and drive a Power Takeoff (PTO) unit on the left and/or right side of the transmission housing. The optional PTO drive gear is driven by the torque converter turbine, with speed and torque reflecting engine input and characteristics of the torque converter. PTO units and associated controls are provided by the vehicle manufacturer and/or body builder.
