Removal & Installation (Driver-side)

- Before proceeding, see AIR BAG SAFETY PRECAUTIONS . Disable air bag system. See ZONE 3 under DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM.
- Turn steering wheel so opening on rear of steering wheel is accessible. Using Air Bag Remover (J-44298), release accessible driver-side air bag module spring loaded fasteners. See Fig 1. Rotate steering wheel 180 degrees and repeat procedure for remaining two spring loaded fasteners. Pull driver-side air bag module away from steering wheel. See Fig 2.
- Note position of wire routing for correct reassembly. Remove Connector Position Assurance (CPA) clip from driver-side air bag module connector and disconnect connector. Disconnect horn lead. Remove air bag module.
- To install, reverse removal procedure. Install air bag module to steering wheel by pressing on left and right sides of air bag module until spring clips engage. Ensure wiring is not pinched or damaged. Activate air bag system. See ZONE 3 under DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM.
