Removal (Impala & Monte Carlo)

- Open the rear compartment lid. Pull up on the rear compartment sill plate to release the spring clips. Remove the rear compartment sill plate from rear compartment. See Figure. Remove the convenience net and retainers, if equipped.
- Remove the tail lamp retainers. Remove the plastic cover from the communication interface module (On-Star module). See Figure. Remove the nuts from the module bracket. Lift the module off the studs. Disconnect the cellular antenna cable from the communication interface module by pulling outward on the square plastic housing.
- Disconnect the two lower connectors from the module. Disconnect the GPS antenna cable from the module by pulling outward on the circular metal sleeve. Remove the module and the bracket from the rear compartment. Remove the spare tire cover from the rear compartment. Remove the rear seat cushion and rear seat back.
- Remove the push-in retainers from the rear compartment trim panel. Pull back the trim panel from the rear seating area. Remove the trim panel from the rear compartment. See Figure. Remove the fuel sender access panel nuts. Remove the fuel sender access panel.
