Removal & Installation

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 GMC Savana and 2003 Chevrolet Chevy Express. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Release fuel pressure. See FUEL SYSTEM PRESSURE RELEASE  under FUEL SYSTEMS. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Remove the engine cover.
  2. Disconnect the Fuel Rail Temperature (FRT) sensor electrical connectors (3). See Figure. Remove the FRT sensor (11) and discard the "O" ring. See Figure.
    3. NOTE: Before installation, lubricate the "O" ring with petroleum jelly or equivalent.
  3. Install the fuel rail temperature (FRT) sensor (2) using a NEW "O" ring. Tighten the FRT sensor to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
  4. To complete installation, reverse removal procedure. Start the vehicle and inspect for CNG fuel leaks at the serviced fittings with the J 45878 or an equivalent leak detector.
