Hydraulic System Bleeding: Notes

  1. Remove power steering pump reservoir cap. Fill pump reservoir to FULL COLD level. Attach Power Steer Bleeder Adapter (J-43485) and Mity Vac (J-35555) to pump reservoir. Apply 20 in. Hg of vacuum and wait five minutes.
  2. Typical vacuum drop is 2-3 in. Hg. Remove power steering bleeder and mity vac. Reinstall pump cap. Start engine. Allow engine to idle. Turn engine off. Verify fluid level. Repeat procedure until fluid level stabilizes.
  3. Start engine and allow to idle. Turn wheel a full turn in each direction five times. Turn engine off. Verify fluid level. Remove pump reservoir cap.
  4. Attach power steering bleeding equipment. Apply 20 in. Hg of vacuum and wait five minutes. Remove bleeding equipment. Verify fluid level. Reinstall pump reservoir cap.
