Fuel Rail Pressure Sensor: Removal

WARNING: Before servicing any electrical component, the ignition key must be in the OFF or LOCK position and all electrical loads must be OFF, unless instructed otherwise in these procedures. If a tool or equipment could easily come in contact with a live exposed electrical terminal, also disconnect the negative battery cable(s). Failure to follow these precautions may cause personal injury and/or damage to the vehicle or its components.

NOTE: Combustible Gas Detector (J-45878) is required for this procedure. See Figure .

Release fuel pressure. See FUEL SYSTEM PRESSURE RELEASE under FUEL SYSTEMS. Disconnect the negative battery cable(s). Remove the engine sight shield. See Figure .
Disconnect the fuel rail pressure sensor connector. See Figure . Support the fuel rail flange with a back-up wrench while loosening the sensor with a wrench. See Figure . Remove the sensor from the fuel rail. Remove and discard the "O" rings.
