Engine Mechanical

  1. Inspect engine mechanical for the following:
    • Compression. See ENGINE COMPRESSION TEST in BASIC DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURES - 5.7L CORVETTE article.
    • Sticking or leaking valves.
    • Worn camshaft lobes.
    • Valve timing.
    • Bent push rods.
    • Worn rocker arms.
    • Broken valve springs.
    • Excessive oil in combustion chamber. See appropriate article in ENGINES.
  2. For incorrect basic engine parts inspect for the following:
    • Camshaft
    • Cylinder Heads
    • Pistons, etc.
