Removal & Installation (4.8L, 5.3L & 6.0L)

CAUTION:
Before servicing any electrical component, the ignition key must be in the OFF or LOCK position and all electrical loads must be OFF, unless instructed otherwise in these procedures. If a tool or equipment could easily come in contact with a live exposed electrical terminal, also disconnect the negative battery cable. Failure to follow these precautions may cause personal injury and/or damage to the vehicle or its components.
NOTE:
Vehicle requires CRANKSHAFT POSITION (CKP) SENSOR VARIATION LEARN PROCEDURE to be performed when CKP sensor is removed or replaced. See COMPUTER RELEARN PROCEDURES article in GENERAL INFORMATION. When installing the CKP sensor, make sure the sensor is fully seated before tightening the mounting bolt. A poorly seated CKP sensor may perform erratically and may set false DTCs.
Disconnect the negative battery cable. Raise and support vehicle. Remove the starter. See Fig 1. Disconnect the Crankshaft Position (CKP) sensor electrical connector. See Fig 2. Clean the area around the CKP sensor before removal in order to avoid debris from entering the engine. Remove the CKP sensor retaining fastener. See Fig 3. Remove the CKP sensor. To install, reverse removal procedure. Tighten fasteners to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
