Removal & Installation (4.3L)

- Remove the fuel meter body assembly. See FUEL METER BODY ASSEMBLY & INJECTORS . Remove the injector assembly retainer (1) and the injector retainer lock nuts (2). See Fig 1.
- While pulling the poppet nozzle tube downward, push with a small tip punch down between the injector terminals until the injector is removed.
- Lubricate the new injector "O" ring seals with clean engine oil. See Fig 2. Install the "O" rings on the injector assembly.
- Install the fuel injector assembly (3) into the injector socket. Install the injector assembly retainer (1) and the injector retainer lock nuts (2). Tighten the lock nuts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . Install the fuel meter body assembly. See FUEL METER BODY ASSEMBLY & INJECTORS .
CAUTION:
Each injector is calibrated for a specific flow rate. Order the correct injector for the application being serviced when replacing the fuel injectors.
CAUTION:
DO NOT use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener.
