Removal (Blazer & Jimmy Canadian 4-Door)

  1. Release fuel system pressure. See FUEL SYSTEM PRESSURE RELEASE . Drain as much fuel as possible through fuel filler pipe using a hand-operated pump. Raise and support vehicle.
  2. CAUTION: Use safety glasses when using compressed air to prevent eye injury.
  3. Remove fuel tank shield (if equipped). See Fig 1. Using compressed air, clean area around any fittings and hoses to be disconnected. Loosen fuel filler neck hose clamp at fuel tank. Disconnect fuel filler neck hose at fuel tank. Disconnect vent hoses from fuel limiter vent valve. Disconnect vent hose from rollover valve at front of fuel tank.
  4. Disconnect electrical connections to fuel tank at fuel sending unit. Disconnect EVAP and fuel lines to fuel tank at fuel sending unit. See FUEL LINE DISCONNECT FITTINGS . Support fuel tank. Remove fuel tank strap fasteners and fuel tank straps. Remove fuel tank.
