Exhaust Manifolds: Removal

  1. Remove wheelhouse panel.
  2. Remove oil level indicator tube, if removing right exhaust manifold.
  3. If removing left or right side exhaust manifold, remove spark plug wires from spark plugs and ignition coil. Remove spark plugs.
  4. If removing right exhaust manifold, remove Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) pipe nuts from exhaust manifold. Remove EGR pipe bracket bolt. Remove and discard EGR pipe gasket. Reposition EGR pipe.
  5. If removing left or right side exhaust manifold, raise and support vehicle.
  6. Remove appropriate exhaust manifold heat shield bolts and nuts, remove exhaust manifold heat shield.
  7. Lower vehicle.
  8. Remove exhaust manifold bolt and nuts, remove exhaust manifold.
  9. Remove and discard exhaust manifold gasket.
  10. If reusing exhaust manifold, clean and inspect exhaust manifold.
