Catalytic Converter: Removal

  1. Raise and support vehicle.
  2. Remove engine shield bolts and shield, if necessary.
  3. Remove oil pan skid plate bolts and plate, if necessary.
  4. Remove muffler. See MUFFLER REPLACEMENT .
  5. Disconnect the Connector Position Assurance (CPA) retainers.
  6. Disconnect oxygen sensor electrical connectors.
  7. Remove left exhaust manifold pipe nuts.
  8. Remove catalytic converter.
  9. Slide catalytic converter hanger out of the exhaust pipe hanger bracket.
  10. Remove oxygen sensors if catalytic converter is to be replaced.
