DTC P1441: EVAP Emission System Flow During Non-Purge: Description

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 Oldsmobile Aurora. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

This DTC tests for undesired intake manifold vacuum flow to Evaporative (EVAP) emission system. The Powertrain Control Module (PCM) seals the EVAP system by commanding EVAP canister purge valve OFF and EVAP canister vent valve ON. The PCM monitors Fuel Tank Pressure (FTP) sensor to determine if a vacuum is being drawn on the EVAP system. If vacuum in the EVAP system is more than a predetermined value within a predetermined time, DTC P1441 will set.

The table illustrates the relationship between the ON and OFF states, and the OPEN or CLOSED states of the EVAP canister purge and vent valves. See EVAP VALVE LOGIC  table under DTC P0440: EVAP SYSTEM.
