Removal (Front)

CAUTION:
Clean all fuel pipe connections and surrounding areas before disconnecting the pipes in order to avoid possible fuel system contamination.
- Release fuel system pressure. See FUEL SYSTEM PRESSURE RELEASE .
- Disconnect the fuel feed and pressure balance rear pipes, if required. See FUEL LINE DISCONNECT FITTINGS .
- Loosen the fuel fill and vent hose clamps at the tank. Remove the fuel fill pipe and vent hose from the tank. Remove the fuel fill cap. Using a hand or air operated pumping device, drain as much fuel out through the fuel fill pipe as possible.
- Disconnect the fuel sending unit and pressure sensor electrical connectors. Disconnect the fuel feed/return pipes from the fuel tank pipes. See FUEL LINE DISCONNECT FITTINGS . On 8.1L models, using Fuel Line Disconnect Tool (J 44581), disconnect the fuel return pipe from the sending unit.
- On all models, raise and support the vehicle. Remove the fuel tank shield bolts. Remove the fuel tank shield. See Figure. Place a suitable adjustable jack under the fuel tank.
- Remove the fuel tank strap bolts. Remove the fuel tank straps. Lower the fuel tank. With the aid of an assistant, place the fuel tank in a suitable work area. Cap the fuel and EVAP pipes in order to prevent possible fuel/EVAP system contamination.
