Front Cover: Installation

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 Saturn Vue and 2002 Saturn Vue. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Install the front timing belt cover. Install the front timing belt cover bolts. Tighten the front timing belt cover bolt to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
  2. Install accessory drive belt tensioner. Install the accessory drive belt tensioner bolts and tighten to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . Install the drive belt idler pulley. Install the drive belt idler pulley bolt. Snug the power idler pulley bolt. The bolts will be tightened to the proper specification when the serpentine drive belt is installed.
  3. Install the water pump pulley. Install the water pump pulley bolts. Snug the water pump pulley bolts. The bolts will be tightened to the proper specification when the accessory drive belt is installed.
  4. Route the electrical harness into the engine harness channel and engage the connectors. Install the wiring harness channel to the front cover. Be sure to properly route the electrical harness to prevent harness damage caused by the accessory drive belt. Attach the wiring harness channel extension to the right lower side of the wiring harness channel.
  5. Install the accessory drive belt. Tighten the water pump pulley bolt and drive belt idler pulley bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
  6. Install the engine mount bracket and engine mount. See MOTOR MOUNTS & BRACKETS .
  7. Raise and support the vehicle. Install the splash shield. Install splash shield push pins. Install right front wheel and tire assembly. Tighten the wheel nuts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . Lower the vehicle. Install air cleaner assembly. Connect negative battery cable and tighten terminal bolt to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
