Rear Mount Bracket: Installation

  1. If equipped with FWD, install the transaxle mount bracket to the transaxle. See Figure . Tighten bracket-to-transaxle bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
  2. If equipped with AWD, install the transaxle mount bracket to the power takeoff. See Figure . Tighten bracket-to-power takeoff bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
  3. On all models, install the rear transaxle mount. See REAR MOUNT  .
  4. Lower the steering gear into the steering gear mounts. See Figure .
  5. Hand start both steering gear to frame bolts.
  6. Tighten the steering gear-to-frame bolts. Tighten bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
  7. Install the intermediate steering shaft to the steering gear.
  8. Install a NEW intermediate steering shaft pinch bolt. See Figure . Tighten bolt to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
  9. Connect the stabilizer link to the stabilizer shaft. See Figure . Tighten nut to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
  10. Install the left outer tie rod to the steering knuckle. See appropriate FRONT article in SUSPENSION.
  11. Lower the vehicle.
