Removal & Installation

  1. Discharge A/C system, using approved refrigerant recovery/recycling equipment. See RECOVERY, EVACUATING & RECHARGING in GENERAL SERVICING PROCEDURES article in GENERAL SERVICING. Remove bolt and remove hose assembly from compressor. Select the proper size Suction Screen Removal tool from Suction Screen Kit (J-44551) and remove suction screen from compressor suction line. See Fig 1.
  2. To install, insert Sizing Tool from Suction Screen Kit into suction line to determine correct size suction screen to install. See Fig 2. Insert selected suction screen in suction line. Carefully install Mandrel and Suction Screen Installation tool from Suction Screen Kit over suction line and screen. Correct placement of suction screen installation tool is critical.
  3. Tighten forcing screw on installer until NEW suction screen is flush with end of suction line. See Fig 3. To complete installation, reverse removal procedure. Install NEW hose assembly sealing rings on compressor and coat with refrigerant oil. Evacuate and recharge A/C system. Install Suction Screen Notification Label from Suction Screen Kit.
