A/C Pressure Switches

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 GMC Savana Special, 2002 GMC Savana Camper Special, 2002 GMC Savana, and 2002 Chevrolet Chevy Express. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE: Low pressure cut-off switch may also be referred to as pressure cycling switch.

The A/C system is protected by 2 pressure switches. The high pressure switch, located on rear of compressor, interrupts the A/C request signal when A/C refrigerant pressure exceeds a predetermined value. The low pressure cut-off switch, located on accumulator, interrupts the A/C low pressure switch signal when A/C refrigerant pressure drops below 18 psi (1.3 kg/cm2 ) or more than 49 psi (3.4 kg/cm2 ), switch opens, interrupting power to compressor clutch, shutting off compressor.
