Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 GMC Safari, 2002 Chevrolet Astro, 2001 GMC Safari, and 2001 Chevrolet Astro. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Install the seat cushion frame. See Figure.
    CAUTION: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
  2. Install the bolts that retain the console to the seat cushion frame in the locations noted during disassembly. Refer to Center Console Replacement - Rear Seat .

    Tighten 

    Tighten the bolts that retain the console to the seat cushion frame to 30 N.m (22 ft lbs).

  3. Install the bolts that retain the seat back hinges to the seat cushion frame in the locations noted during disassembly. See Figure.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the bolts that retain the seat back hinges to the bench seat cushion frame to 30 N.m (22 ft lbs).

  4. Install the seat cushion cover and pad.
  5. Install the rear bench seat to the vehicle. Refer to Seat Replacement - Rear Bench (2001)  or Seat Replacement - Rear Bench (2002)  .
