Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 GMC Safari, 2002 Chevrolet Astro, 2001 GMC Safari, and 2001 Chevrolet Astro. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Install the seat cushion cover to the pad.
  2. Install the seat cushion cover and the pad to the seat cushion frame. See Figure.
  3. Install the hog rings that retain the seat cushion cover to the seat cushion frame in the locations noted during disassembly. See Figure.
  4. Install the J-hook that retain the seat cushion cover to the seat cushion frame.
  5. Install the lumbar knob and clip if equipped. See Figure.
  6. Install the lever to the recliner if equipped.
    CAUTION: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
  7. Install the screw to the recliner lever handle if equipped.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the screw to the recliner lever handle to 2 N.m (18 in lbs).

  8. Install the bucket seat to the seat risers. Refer to Seat Replacement - Bucket .
