Removal Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Buick Regal and 2002 Buick Century. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Apply the park brake.
  2. Remove the steering column filler panel. Refer to Steering Column Filler Replacement .
  3. Remove the accessory trim plate, if not equipped with a front floor console. Refer to Trim Plate Replacement - I/P Accessory .
  4. Adjust the front floor console for access, if equipped. Refer to Console Replacement - Front Floor (D06)  or Console Replacement - Front Floor (D55)  .
  5. If equipped with column shift, adjust the shift lever to LOW.
  6. Remove the instrument panel (I/P) outer trim covers.

  8. Open the I/P compartment.
  9. Remove the filler panel from the lower section of the I/P. Refer to Filler Panel Replacement - Outer - I/P Lower Trim .
  10. Remove the screw from the right end of the I/P cluster trim plate.

  11. Release the retaining tab on the right end of the trim plate.

  13. Tilt the steering column to the lowest position.
  14. Pull the trim plate at the right edge, working towards the left slowly, in order to release the retaining clips.
  15. Remove the I/P trim plate.
