Installation (Rear - 3500 Series)

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 7 other vehicles, including the 2002 GMC Yukon XL, 2002 GMC Yukon, 2002 Chevrolet Tahoe, 2002 Chevrolet Suburban, and 2002 Chevrolet Avalanche. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Install the anti-rattle clips to the brake caliper mounting bracket. See Figure.
  2. Install the brake pads to the brake caliper mounting bracket.
  3. Install the brake caliper to the brake caliper mounting bracket.
  4. Install the brake caliper mounting bolts to the brake caliper mounting bracket. Do not tighten.
  5. Install the brake caliper and brake caliper mounting bracket as an assembly. See Figure.
  6. Before installing the brake caliper mounting bracket bolts, remove all traces of the original adhesive patch. Clean the threads of the bolt with denatured alcohol or equivalent and allow to dry. Apply Threadlocker (GM P/N 12345493) to the threads of the bolt.
  7. Install the brake caliper mounting bracket bolts. Tighten the brake caliper mounting bracket bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
  8. Tighten the brake caliper mounting bolts. Tighten the brake caliper mounting bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
  9. Install the tire and wheel assembly. Tighten to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
  10. Lower the vehicle.
  11. With the engine OFF, gradually apply the brake pedal to approximately 2/3 of it's travel distance.
  12. Slowly release the brake pedal.
  13. Wait 15 seconds, then repeat steps  11 and  12 until a firm pedal is obtained. This will properly seat the brake caliper pistons and brake pads.
