Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Oldsmobile Aurora. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. If required, install a new oil pan seal using the following procedure:
    1. 1.1. Clean any residual oil from the seal groove.
    2. 1.2. Work the seal into the pan groove in both directions around the pan.
  2. Position the oil pan to the crankcase.

    CAUTION: Refer toFASTENER NOTICE .
  3. Install the oil pan retaining bolts.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the oil pan bolts to 10 N.m (89 in lbs) in the sequence shown.

  4. Install the engine oil level sensor (1) into the oil pan.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the engine oil level sensor to 20 N.m (15 ft lbs).

  5. Connect the electrical connector (2) to the engine oil level sensor (1).

  7. Install the front exhaust manifold pipe. Refer to EXHAUST MANIFOLD PIPE REPLACEMENT - FRONT (L47) .
  8. Fill the engine oil. Refer to Engine Oil and Oil Filter Replacement .
  9. Inspect for oil leaks after engine start up.
