Removal & Installation

  1. Disable SIR system. See appropriate AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEMS article in RESTRAINTS. Remove Instrument Panel (IP) trim pad. See Fig 1. Remove defroster grille screw. Using a flat-bladed tool, remove defroster grille from IP trim pad. Remove IP outer trim cover screws. Remove IP outer trim covers. Open glove compartment and remove right IP trim plate bezel. Remove IP trim pad screws and remove IP trim pad from IP carrier.
  2. Remove screws from IP trim plate and remove IP accessory trim plate by pulling rearward to disengage retainers. Disconnect harness connectors from trim plate. Unsnap fuel gauge select switch from trim plate. See Fig 2. To install, reverse removal procedure.
