Test Ac: Chime Inoperative: 2002

  1. If audible warnings description and operation has been reviewed, go to next step. If audible warnings description and operation has not been reviewed, go to AUDIBLE WARNINGS  under DESCRIPTION and AUDIBLE WARNINGS  under OPERATION.
  2. Turn ignition OFF. Insert key into ignition. Open drivers door. If chime activates, go to next step. If chime does not activate, go to step  4 .
  3. Remove key from ignition. Turn the headlamps ON. If chime activates, test for intermittent and poor connections. If chime does not activate, go to step  8 .
  4. Insert key into ignition with ignition OFF. Disconnect driver door jamb switch. Connect a fused jumper to the driver door switch signal circuit and a good ground. If chime activates, go to step  7 . If chime does not activate, go to next step.
  5. Disconnect the ignition key alarm switch. Connect a fused jumper to the key-in-ignition switch signal circuit and a good ground. If chime activates, go to next step. If chime does not activate, go to step  9 .
  6. Inspect signal circuit of driver door jamb switch for an open or high resistance. If condition is found, repair as necessary and go to step  16 . If no condition is found, go to step  10 .
  7. Inspect for an open or high resistance in the ground circuit of driver door jamb circuit. If condition is found, repair as necessary and go to step  16 . If no condition is found, go to step  12 .
  8. Inspect for an open or high resistance in the instrument panel lamp supply voltage circuit. If condition is found, repair as necessary and go to step  16 . If no condition is found, go to step  11 .
  9. Inspect for an open or high resistance in the signal circuit of the ignition key alarm switch. If condition is found, repair as necessary and go to step  16 . If no condition is found, go to step  11 .
  10. Inspect the harness connector of the ignition key alarm switch for poor connections. If condition is found, repair as necessary and go to step  16 . If no condition is found, go to step  14 .
  11. Inspect the harness connector of the multifunction alarm module (MFAM) for poor connections. If condition is found, repair as necessary and go to step  16 . If no condition is found, go to step  15 .
  12. Inspect the harness connector of the driver door jamb switch for poor connections. If condition is found, repair as necessary and go to step  16 . If no condition is found, go to next step.
  13. Replace driver door jamb switch, then go to step  16 .
  14. Replace the ignition key alarm switch, then go to step  16 .
  15. Replace the MFAM, then go to next step.
  16. Operate system to verify fault no longer exists. If fault still exists, go to step  2 .
