Suction Screen Installation

NOTE: Tool Required: Suction Screen Kit (J-44551).
NOTE: Suction screens are intended to be installed in the suction hose after a major compressor failure.
  1. Insert Sizing Tool into the suction hose to select the correct size suction screen. See Fig 1. Insert the suction screen into the compressor end of the suction hose. Install the Correct Mandrel. See Fig 2.
  2. Install the Screen Installation Tool over the end of the suction hose and the suction screen. Correct placement of Tool is critical. See Fig 3. Tighten the Forcing Screw of Tool. The suction screen is fully installed when the screen is flush with the end of the suction hose fitting.
  3. Remove the Suction Screen Tool from the suction hose. After a major compressor failure, you should also install an A/C refrigerant filter. See REFRIGERANT FILTER INSTALLATION . Install the Suction Screen Notification Label. Recharge system See RECOVERY, EVACUATION & RECHARGING in GENERAL SERVICING PROCEDURES article in GENERAL SERVICING. Leak test all related fittings. See LEAK TESTING in GENERAL SERVICING PROCEDURES article in GENERAL SERVICING.
