Possible Causes & Corrections

Check the following items:
- Using scan tool, check for misfires.
- Using scan tool, APP AT IDLE should read YES with no pedal input (3.0L).
- Generator charging output voltage. Repair if less than 13 volts or more than 16 volts with engine running and all accessories off.
- Clogged injectors. Perform injector balance test. See FUEL SYSTEMS in SYSTEM & COMPONENT TESTING - 2.2L & 3.0L VUE article.
- Stuck open EVAP purge solenoid.
- Restricted catalytic converter (primary & secondary).
- Fuel quality.
- Broken or loose engine mounts.
- Check terminals and wires at EI module.
- ECM power and grounds.
- Vacuum leaks (intake leak between MAF sensor and throttle body).

- Spark plugs and boots for corrosion/arcing.
- Cylinder compression.
